Swiss Machining of Stainless Steel Poppet Valve for the Oil & Gas Industry

7D Manufacturing swiss machined a large quantity of stainless steel poppet valves for a client in the oil and gas industry. We first turned both sides of the valves, each of which measured .300″ in diameter and .575″ in length. We then drilled and deburred holes in the 316 stainless steel valves. After a thorough inspection, which included the use of Oasis measuring equipment, optical comparators and micro-height gauges, we shipped the poppet valves to the client in Louisiana.

Stainless Steel Poppet Valve (Mushroom Valve)

CNC Machining of Stainless Steel FID Fittings for the Oil & Gas Industry

7D Manufacturing built 300-500 stainless steel FID fittings on a CNC machine for a client in the oil and gas industry. The process of turning the fittings included four turning operations, drilling and boring, forming of the internal thread and cutting grooves. Milling the 2.3″ long fittings entailed four milling operations, drilling and taping of the bolt pattern and finally, drilling holes which were 2.3″ long and measured .217″ in diameter.

After a thorough testing process, which included the use of an optical comparator and a coordinate measurement machine, we shipped the 316 stainless steel FID fittings to the client’s Oklahoma location.

Stainless Steel FID Fitting

CNC Machining of Tungsten and Glass Filled PPO Component for the Defense Industry

7D Manufacturing built this Tungsten and Glass Filled PPO component on a CNC machine for a client in the defense industry. We turned, drilled and bored the component. These procedures were followed by a three operation CNC milling process during which we drilled, bored, countersunk and tapped four #0-80 holes that met a tolerance of ±.002″.

After a thorough testing process that included the use of an optical comparator, a coordinate measurement machine and a micro-height gage, we shipped the tungsten and PPO night vision device components to the client in Texas.To learn more about this project, please see the details below. This tungsten and glass fiber filled PPO component acts as a weight which drops the device into the tube of a night vision system.
